This poster series was made for Daniel Coyle, to promote two one-act plays in NYC: Hiraeth and Limerence. The first poster was the primary promotional material, while the additional 5 were used as stage props and promo materials on social media. We based the content for the drawings on the metaphorical language in the script, used a lot a white space to create legible images with a fanciful tone, and establish a visual connection throughout. When the coolest salon in town asks you for a website, you say YES! Bang is a beautiful space, with a great staff, and we wanted that to come through on their website. So, we set up a photoshoot with the talented Mark Yaggie, and after that everything fell right into place. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop in for a trim (tell them Chicken 3000 sent you). Chris Robley needed a poster in a hurry for a tiny little tour he was doing in the north eastern United States. We banged this gem out so his fans could clear their schedule and hear the gospel.
This company wanted their branding to feel warm and approachable, and the owner wanted her dog’s likeness to be used in the logo. We chose to hand draw the company’s name, and created a simplified silhouette of the pup. These two elements form a super flexible branding package that work for any application. This cover got its inspiration from the video for the title track. We stripped the photo down, threw in some half tones and some vintage pop colors, and fell in love.
The YWCA of Central Maine’s new website is really fun, good-looking’, and easy to navigate. What a win! The YWCA is an extremely active place, with a heavy roster of programs and classes. Their site needed to be clearly organized, easy to navigate, and still convey the fun energy and community that is such a big part of what they offer. World-class poet and musician, Chris Robley, gave us the pleasure of designing a poetry chapbook, “I Say Potato, You Say Apocalypse,” and an accompanying broadside for Tin-can Telephone. We had a blast designing them to be RISOGRAPH printed by our friends over at Wingclub Press, and they look awesome.
Fun bit of trivia: actual potato stamps were used to create the cover imagery for the chapbook. (We love getting our hands dirty.)
Socorra, a powerful folk/rock singer-songwriter from the San Francisco Bay Area, needed a sticker to match her energy and life aesthetic. Simple but effective, well-crafted hand-done typography will usually do the trick. We beat just the right amount of texture into this thing to give it a road-weary look, and voila, the perfect sticker! You can check out HER mad skills here!
